The American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA) represents over 2,700 Board-certified otolaryngologists and health care providers. Otolaryngology, frequently referred to as Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), uniquely combines medical and surgical expertise to care for patients with a variety of conditions affecting the ears, nose, and throat, as well as commonly related conditions. AAOA members devote part of their practice to the diagnosis and treatment of allergic disease. The AAOA actively supports its membership through education, research, and advocacy in the care of allergic patients.

Format

As a hybrid course, we are excited to offer both live in-person and virtual participation. Content is accessible for over 90 days to help you maximize value.

Purpose

The Basic Course in Allergy & Immunology presents basic concepts and techniques applicable to the clinical care of allergic patients. Register Today

Content Area

The AAOA CME program centers around clinical issues related to the care of allergy/immunology and inflammatory diseases of the airways and systems related to the head and neck.

The Basic Course focuses on:

    • More integration of SLIT into treatment discussions
    • Introduction to Allergy
    • Allergy Testing (Prick, IT, IDT, In Vitro)
    • Basic principles of allergy
    • Treatment of Allergy (SCIT, SLIT, Dose Calculations, Vial Prep)
    • Introduction to Advanced Topics (Unified Airway, Asthma, Food Allergies, SLIT)

Target Audience

The Basic Course is structured for otolaryngologists integrating more allergy assessment and management into their practice, AAOA members providing specialized allergy care who need to remain current with literature based evidence and practice trends, residents, PA/NPs who work in otolaryngology, and allied health staff who support their physicians in the management of allergic patients. The Basic Course offers face-to-face opportunities with the faculty to discuss nuances and answer questions, as well as hands-on practica to demonstrate technique.

Expected Results

The Basic Course is intended to advance physician competence and performance and is intended to result in improved patient care outcomes. Upon completion of the course, participants should demonstrate competence in the evaluation and management of the allergic patient, including utilization of appropriate testing techniques, implementation of environmental control, delivery of allergy pharmacotherapy, and delivery of safe immunotherapy.

Accreditation Statement

The American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AMA Credit Designation Statement

The American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy designates this live activity for a maximum of TBD AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ABOHNS Continuing Certification Recognition Statement

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn their required annual part II self-assessment credit in the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery’s Continuing Certification program (CC, formerly known as MOC). It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of recognizing participation.

Looking for More Value? AAOA is now aligned to offer CME credits for eligible ABOHNS Diplomates for Continuing Certification (CC). As an AAOA member can choose to participate in ABOHNS Continuing Certification credits (CC Part II: Self-Assessment credits by click the CC option when registering for this activity.  Make sure you update your member profile when you register to help assure you can receive Continuing Certification credit.

The AAOA is making the participation in ABOHNS Continuing Certification credits (CC) free for AAOA members with this CME course registration. CC opt-in option is complimentary until the course ends. You will be asked to pay $100 late fee if you miss the deadline and still want to claim Continuing Certification credits (CC) for this activity. Non Members can also participate in ABOHNS continuing certification for an additional fee.

Non-physician CME

Only physicians may be awarded AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Non-physician health professionals and other participants may not be awarded AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™; however, a transcript serves as documentation of participation to non-physicians and for self-submission to satisfy the CME credit requirement, if applicable.

For non-physicians looking to fulfill the AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ requirement and  self-submit, you can send your transcript and proof of the AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ statement on the AAOA activity page.

To reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, we encourage taking personal safeguards, including but not limited to vaccination and/or wearing a mask in the meeting, to help protect your health and the health of our members and community at large.  

While there are currently no restrictions in place, attendees must adhere to any updated requirements and guidelines of the State of Utah, the City of Park City as well as the event.   

AAOA will continue to monitor state and federal requirements and will update our policy accordingly.

Important Information

Cancellation Policy

Registration fees are non-transferable. Refunds (less a 20% administration fee) may be considered for cancellations received in writing by the AAOA prior to June 10, 2025.

Those who change from F2F to Virtual or Virtual to F2F will not be assessed any change fees.

Cancellations received after June 10, 2025 are non-refundable.
