AAOA Annual Meeting 2021 - Virtual

Annual Meeting Overview

oh no…you are too late for THE 2021 AAOA Annual meeting, but you can still register for the 2022 AAOA Advanced Course

REGISTER FOR 2022 AAOA ADVANCED COURSE

Welcome

Welcome to the 2021 AAOA Annual Meeting. Thank you for taking this opportunity with us to experience CME in a wholly virtual format once again. Similar to our 2020 AAOA Annual Meeting’s success, our goal is to offer you choices in how you view the content — Live- Stream and On-Demand — to maximize your participation.
Targeted to launch prior to the Live-Stream sessions, our On-Demand content will  span all the topics tied to allergy diagnosis and management in today’s ENT practice. While we are still in build mode (and would love your unput) we expect to feature topics spanning running from component testing, immunotherapy compliance, and office-based procedures to migraine vs allergy, sleep, AERD, and of course, biologics.
Our Live-Stream sessions will feature Claus Bachert, MD and Richard Harvey, MD. Join us for this unique opportunity to learn from renowned masters and consider their perspective and research on EPOS CRS classification system, moving beyond nasal polyposis, and chronic rhinosinusitis, biologics, and how it applies to your practice.
Quality care and good patient outcomes are not possible without a strong practice. Join us for the latest on telehealth, the impact of the new E/M codes, allergy coding, office efficiencies, revenue streams, building staff culture, and more.
We are mixing it up with several innovative approaches. For those who participated in our 2020 program, you will be happy to know that we will be bringing  game shows back and will offer innovative program formats.
We are excited to have your participation!

Purpose

The 2021 AAOA Annual Meeting offers general sessions discussing basic and clinical research, as well as workshops, instruction courses, topical discussions, and panels focusing on the diagnosis and management of allergy, inflammatory disease of the respiratory tract, immunology, rhinology, biologics, and the practical aspects of incorporating allergy patient care into an otolaryngology practice.

Content Area

The AAOA CME program centers around clinical issues related to the care allergy/immunology and inflammatory diseases of the airways and systems related to the head and neck. Our goal is to offer key content on the comprehensive role of allergy in today’s ENT practice.

We plan for the content of the  Annual Meeting to be focused on (note: this is still being planned):

  • Immunotherapy (SCIT and SLIT)
  • Diagnosis and management of allergy
  • Practical rhinology
  • Basic principles of allergy
  • Instruction courses focusing on a variety of topics such as gastroesophageal disorders, immunology, allergy emergencies and anaphylaxis, sleep disorders, and setting up an allergy practice
  • Current research highlighting advances in clinical and basic science
  • Business of Medicine programming, focusing on the day-to-day issues that all Otolaryngologists face. Sessions are designed to help solving challenges affecting any practice
  • USP <797> Compliance Training
  • Biologics

Target Audience

The Annual Meeting is structured for otolaryngologists integrating more allergy assessment and management into their practice, AAOA members providing specialized allergy care who need to remain current with literature-based evidence and practice trends, residents, PA/NPs who work in otolaryngology, and allied health staff who support their physicians in the management of allergic patients. The Annual Meeting offers unique opportunities with the faculty and peers to discuss practice nuances and answer questions.

Expected Results

The Annual Meeting is intended to advance physician competence and performance and is intended to result in improved patient care outcomes. Upon completion of the course, participants should demonstrate competence in the evaluation and management of the allergic patient, including utilization of appropriate testing techniques, implementation of environmental control, delivery of allergy pharmacotherapy, and delivery of safe immunotherapy.
