Celebrating Over 80 Years Of Service!

The American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA) represents over 2,700 Board-certified otolaryngologists and health care providers. Otolaryngology, frequently referred to as Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), uniquely combines medical and surgical expertise to care for patients with a variety of conditions affecting the ears, nose, and throat, as well as commonly related conditions. PATIENT CORNER

CEO Update, September 2024

“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the Fall”.

F. Scott Fitzgerald may have been on to something. While we are still awaiting “crisp” in DC, Fall is definitely in the air. And there is a sense of renewal. Perhaps it is due to our Fall Annual meeting and our transition from the current Board to the new Board (Don’t forgot to vote via proxy!).

AAOA seems to be undergoing renewal too.

Our education leadership spent the better part of the year focused on how to improve our programming to better meet your needs — both through content and delivery. We are in the process of implementing the resulting metamorphosis. Our Advanced Course in Allergy & Immunology is being transformed to explore with a deep dive and include surgical and medical management of allergic and inflammatory disease. Under the directorship of Jennifer Villwock, MD, FAAOA and Jack Krouse, MD, PhD, MBA, FAAOA, we are exciting to see where they take this new approach. Watch your email for more details.

Our AAOA member benefits have undergone a renewal too. New this year is our Affinity program. Working with USENT, we have negotiated better pricing for typical ENT and medical supplies and services with the best cost savings for AAOA members with antigen and related allergy supplies. Through this AAOA member benefit, not only do you have access to the group pricing USENT has negotiated with over 38 vendors, but our members are report time savings as well. By taking the haggling out of vendor negotiations, your time and your staff time can be better utilized. We know some of you are hesitant because you think the process involved negotiating with USENT. The pricing is tiered to help everyone gain the maximum value for their spend. For more information, contact [email protected].

We are using data our crowdsourcing and member outreach to deduce new tools and resources that would bring value to you. While we have some ideas about some new practice-focused resources, expansion of our Practice Resource Toolkit, and virtual meetings focused on the business of medicine, we are happy to take your suggestions. Where can we start over, so to
speak, with member value and support you in your practice.

Annual Meeting registration is open. Like all our programs, it is a hybrid to give broader and longer access to our cutting-edge content. More importantly, the Annual Meeting is part of your overall dues value. So there is no additional registration fee whether you choose to attend the live component with us in Las Vegas or from your clinic office. We look forward to having you join us.
