CEO Update, August 2024
Seems impossible that the end of summer is here. While I look forward to football (Penn State!) and sweatshirts, the end of summer is always a little bittersweet. Perhaps it is a longing for the carefree vibe to carry on.
The end of summer is definitely all about new beginnings. New school year. Fall Annual Meetings. And more.
Building our organizational strategy around member needs, your AAOA is focused on beginnings — or perhaps reimaginings is the better word — too.
From all our member feedback — from crowdsourcing to program evaluations and personal outreach, we recognize that your practice challenges and educational needs are evolving. To better support you, we are reimagining our CME program offerings. Starting with 2025, the Advanced Course is being completely revamped to better explore innovations in the surgical and medical management of airway disease. This will not be the Advanced Course as you recall it, but something more timely, cutting edge, and more practical to bring you the tools and techniques you need. Delving deep into allergy adjacent content, the reimagined format will be built around a two-year curriculum to allow for deeper dives into core topics impacting your otolaryngology practice to give you the clinical pearls and practical application tools to expand your skillset. We are very excited about these changes to help us better deliver member value. Watch this newsletter and other AAOA communications for more details on what Jennifer Villwock, MD, Jack Krouse, MD, PhD, MBA, Rob Stachler, MD, and the Education Committee have in store. And, we hope to see you in Vail — either in person or virtually for the hybrid course.
