Welcome

Celebrating Over 80 Years Of Service!

The American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA) represents over 2,700 Board-certified otolaryngologists and health care providers. Otolaryngology, frequently referred to as Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), uniquely combines medical and surgical expertise to care for patients with a variety of conditions affecting the ears, nose, and throat, as well as commonly related conditions. AAOA members devote part of their practice to the diagnosis and treatment of allergic disease. The AAOA actively supports its membership through education, research, and advocacy in the care of allergic patients.

"Advance the comprehensive management of allergy and inflammatory disease in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery through training, education, and advocacy."

Advocacy

Yearly, the AAOA expends an enormous amount of staff and volunteer-leader time and expertise promoting and defending the scope and practice of otolaryngology, recognizing allergy as a core component.

Limited to active members, the AAOA will make every effort to assist on reimbursement, scope of practice, and other payer-related issues affecting the practice of otolaryngology and patient access to care. The AAOA has been successful in modifying how carriers interpret and reimburse common allergy diagnostic and therapeutic techniques such as IDT and in vitro testing, as well as working directly with CMS on Medicare issues. As members of the AMA House of Delegates, the AAOA has a seat on the AMA CPT panel, opportunities to participate in the Relative Value Update and Practice Expense Advisory panels, and serves on the Physician Consortium on Practice Guidelines (PCPI). This voice helps us to work on behalf of our members and their patients

As an otolaryngic advocacy campaign, the AAOA has joined forces with the American Rhinologic Society and the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery to promote the unique expertise otolaryngologists have in treating patients with sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, and related disorders.
